About The book
Azalea: (Part 1)
From Dream to Nightmare
The world is dying, slowly and painfully.
Every thousand years, the dragons wake, hungry to devour the world’s magic, destroying everyone and everything in their path.
They will not rest until all the magic in the world is consumed. If they serve a purpose, it is known only to them. To all other life, they are monsters.
Azalea, a daughter of the Sylva, wakes to a world falling apart. She is a creature made of nature, memory, and something that came before both.
She was born with knowledge she never asked for: the weakness of the dragons.
Her mother, a giant sentient tree at the heart of the Sylva, tells young Azalea that she has a specific purpose to fulfill. A role to play in an ancient plan to save the world.
Azalea doesn’t want to be controlled.
This story is about fights, both big and small. Civilizations are falling apart because of dragons, but we are also fighting with ourselves about who we think we should be and who we really want to be.
It's a fantasy story that makes you feel something.
A deep love.
Adventure with a purpose.
The Characters
Azalea
Born from a seedpod. Emotionally raw, instinctive, wide-eyed but not naïve. She has memories of her dream, pieces of a destiny she isn’t sure she wants. She feels anger before she understands why. She feels longing before she understands for whom. She feels fear but refuses to let it shape her. Azalea is not the world’s savior, but she might become the reason it survives.
Joseph
A human ranger with secrets. A broken man, ready to die. A calm surface over a storm he’d rather not discuss. He sees something in Azalea that he cannot understand. Helping her gives him a purpose—a reason to keep on living. Everything between them grows from a single, chance encounter. Or is this fate?
The Sylvan Mother
A giant, sentient tree at the heart of a magical forest, the Sylva. She is the mother of all the sylvan, a race of humanoid plants born to help the world’s struggling inhabitants survive the onslaught of the ravenous dragons.
The Dragons
They aren't beasts. They aren't mindless.
Something worse. Something older.
They remember why magic once disappeared, and why it must again. Their return isn't random.
It's punishment.
The World
A world that is falling apart doesn't stay quiet. It makes a groaning sound. It changes.
Magic is fading.
It feels thin like mist on some days.
On other days, it grows larger and larger, like a storm waiting to break.
Many believe the sylvan will help save them from the dragons.
But many have doubts.
Racial division surges as borders shrink and faith declines.
People everywhere are whispering the same fear: "Is survival even possible? When the dragons come for us, what chance will we have?”
